1.4ct Unheated Sapphire from the Missouri River Deposits outside Helena, Montana
5.76 x 5.76 x 4.9 mm
A Violet Blue outdoors, shifting to Mauve under indoor lighting. This All-American sapphire was mined by a small family owned mine, and cut in North Dakota by gemstone designer/faceter Daniel O’Neil. Assher cut Montana Sapphires don’t come around very often, as the natural crystal shape of the rough is seldom deep enough to accommodate this design. Unheated and extremely clean, only a small finger of silk under one corner of the crown, difficult to spot until light hits at just the right angle. Cut from the rough Sapphire at bottom.
